Thank you.

The incredible support that poured in from friends, family, strangers, and local, national, and international businesses was something that none of us could have ever imagined. We want to take this time to say how grateful we are to all of those who have helped make this charity event possible. Without your help, we would have never come close to our goals.

All profits raised went to Rein and Shine and Coastal Crisis Chaplaincy, two organizations that do tremendous work in South Carolina helping people access mental health support and treatment. We can't thank our generous sponsors and patrons supporting us every step of the way to make an event like this possible.

We are so grateful to each and every one of you, and we look forward to seeing you next year with our second annual Boogie Surf Off led by your Charleston kooks!

Eastern Surfing Association (ESA)

ESA

The ESA is the largest amateur surfing association in the world. Our family oriented programs promote a healthy and active lifestyle. It is not uncommon to find two or three generations of the same family involved as members, still actively competing in our program. Two of the original founders of the ESA, Cecil Lear and David Reese, are still active in the association fifty years later! The Association’s activities are currently organized into 22 districts, which extend along nearly 2,000 miles of coastline stretching from Maine to the Gulf coast of Florida, Alabama and the Great Lakes. Each district’s programs are developed and operated by a dedicated group of volunteer directors and staff.

We offer Therapeutic Riding lessons for those who suffer from physical, mental and cognitive disabilities. These lessons create a growing and learning environment for our students. It allows them to improve their present physical, motor and communication skills. But most importantly it allows our students to feel empowered, enabling them to connect with others on a personal level.

We have also recently started up our Veteran's Program: Horses for Heroes! Horses for Heroes serves Veterans with physical, mental or emotional disabilities as well as substance abuse and homelessness. The healing power of horses includes benefits in mobility, balance, confidence and independence.

Coastal Crisis Chaplaincy serves first responders, survivors of traumatic loss, and the community as a whole across Charleston, Berkeley and Dorchester Counties. What began more than 30 years ago as a way to serve first responders has grown to reach all corners of our community. When someone loses a loved one to homicide, suicide, drowning, fire/traffic fatality, or another traumatic death, Coastal Crisis Chaplaincy is called to the scene to care for surviving loved ones. Chaplains and peer support provide access to a continuum of grief care for survivors following their loss. First responders are supported immediately following traumatic calls and in the day to day stressors of their profession. Within our community, chaplains both lead and participate in community events and walks to unite law enforcement and community members, promoting the dignity and sacred worth of all.
